Getty ImagesNEW YORK – Real-life husband and wife Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman will appear next spring in the New York premiere of Annapurna, the Sharr White play in which they starred together earlier this year at the Odyssey Theatre in Los Angeles.

Offerman plays a dying cowboy-poet holed up in a filthy trailer in the wilds of Colorado, with Mullally as the wife who walked out on him 20 years earlier returning for a rage-filled yet ultimately compassionate reunion. Bart DeLorenzo, who staged the L.A. premiere, again will direct.
The play will be presented off-Broadway as part of the New Group’s 2013-14 season, running April 13 through June 1 at the Acorn Theatre on Theatre Row.

It joins another New Group import from Los Angeles in the company’s lineup: Beth Henley‘s The Jacksonian. That production comes from the Geffen Playhouse, with Ed Harris, Glenne Headly, Amy Madigan and Bill Pullman reprising their roles for director Robert Falls. It begins previews Oct. 25 at the Acorn, with the official opening set for Nov. 7.
Annapurna will be the first New York stage appearance for two-time Emmy winner Mullally since her role on Broadway in the 2007 Mel Brooks musical Young Frankenstein. The play marks the New York stage debut for Parks and Recreation regular Offerman, whose professional roots are in Chicago theater and improv comedy.
Playwright White is represented on Broadway this season with The Snow Geese starring Mary-Louise Parker, which currently is in previews, opening Thursday. His play The Other Place last season landed a best actress Tony nomination for Laurie Metcalf.
