The some-time political commentator, who’s been speaking her mind publicly ever since her father, John McCain’s 2008 presidential bid, stopped by New York’s Zuccotti Park to survey the Occupy scene and then wrote a blog for The Daily Beast about it.

“Depending on your perspective, Occupy Wall Street is either indicative of the future—how a group of people can practice activism through social media—or a leaderless (and therefore hopeless) endeavor,” she writes, also dubbing the movement the “anti-Tea Party party.”

It’s not the expected stance for a right-leaning daughter of one of America’s most prominent Republicans. While she suggests the protestors unite around a new, more focused cause (and ditch drugs and costumes), McCain also says she understands what people are frustrated about.
