“I’ve forgotten what it’s like to be desired.”
The first teaser trailer for Jason Reitman‘s Men, Women & Children doesn’t have a single decibel of dialogue, but it aims to say a lot through text messages, image folders and Tumblr feeds — and a drop-down menu of desperation for an escort for Adam Sandler.
The Paramount ensemble film also stars Jennifer Garner, Emma Thompson, Judy Greer, Dean Norris, Timothee Chalamet, Olivia Crocicchia, Kaitlyn Dever and Ansel Elgort and follows a group of high school teens and their parents as they attempt to navigate the many ways the Internet has changed their relationships, their communication, their self-image and their love lives.
The Fault in Our Stars breakout Elgort stopped by Good Morning America on Tuesday morning to present the trailer. “I think it tells a really important story that hasn’t been told yet — the world has changed so much in these past few years with social media and the Internet, how it’s affected us and the way we communicate with people, and the way we have relationships in general, both romantic or just friendships,” he explained. “One of the things our director Jason said was that it’s so funny in this world now, where all we do is connect, connect on our phone, we’re starting to disconnect.”
Men, Women & Children will get a limited release Oct. 3 before expanding Oct. 17. Watch it above.
