Meryl Streep always has been one to make a statement on the carpet with her elegant sense of style. But lately, she’s been stepping out in more adventurous silhouettes — from a Balmain jumpsuit with sheer polka-dot sleeves (and semitransparent side panels) to a leopard-print dress by Derek Lam — while promoting her latest flick, Ricki and the Flash, which she stars in alongside daughter Mamie Gummer and rocker Rick Springfield.
The reason for Streep’s wardrobe redux? The Oscar winner called on Micaela Erlanger — power stylist to Lupita Nyong’o and Michelle Dockery — to dress her for the film’s press tour.

Erlanger, who ranked at No. 13 on The Hollywood Reporter‘s top 25 Power Stylists list this year, has been sharing Streep’s fashion credits on social media (@houseoferlanger), with the latest outfit a black-and-white graphic Valentino dress with perfectly coordinated shoes.
While it’s unclear whether Erlanger is taking over for Streep’s longtime stylist, Zoe Buck, at this time — or if she’ll continue to style the actress after the promo tour is over — one thing’s clear: Streep is pushing her own fashion boundaries. Modern, chic and surprising — Miranda Priestly would approve. The Wall Group, the agency that reps Erlanger, declined to comment when reached by THR.
In addition to styling Streep, Erlanger had an extra-busy weekend with longtime client Dockery, in town to promote the final season of Downton Abbey at the TCA press tour. And, as expected, Erlanger, who now has offices in New York and Los Angeles, outfitted Dockery in two stellar styles: a teal, netted Dion Lee ensemble and a patterned Peter Pilotto frock.
