Additionally, the Santa Barbara International Film Festival announced that it will present its annual Kirk Douglas Award for Excellence to none other than his own son Michael Douglas, the two-time Oscar winner (once for producing and once for acting) who served as the festival’s Honorary Chair when it first began 27 years ago and was also the recipient of its first Modern Master Award. SBIFF, presents this honor months before its actual festival, will present Douglas with the award at a dinner Oct. 13 at the Four Seasons Biltmore in Santa Barbara.
And the Kennedy Center announced that Meryl Streep, the two-time Oscar winner who is vying for a third statuette this year for The Iron Lady, will be one of this year’s four honorees at the 34th annual Kennedy Center Honors.
