An auction of furniture from Michael Jackson’s California mansion has raked in nearly $1 million, Reuters reports.

Among the items sold: a chalkboard belonging to the late singer’s three children — Paris, Prince and Blanket — that had a personal note from the kids and sold for $5,000. Going, going, gone for $25,075: a Victorian Revival-style bedroom suite including the queen bed Jackson died in and a mirror on which he wrote in felt pen: “Train, perfection March April Full oy May,” in apparent reference to preparations for his comeback “This Is It” concert series.

Most of the 500 pieces were less personal and more part of decor of Jackson’s Holmby Hills rental; a recreation of an oil painting by 16th-century artist Titian went for a grand total of $11, 250, and an 18th-century clock scored $9,375. Not up for grabs: the headboard on the bed where Jackson’s body was discovered on June 25, 2009. The Jackson family requested it be removed from the live auction, which was held by Julien’s Auctions in Beverly Hills during two sessions on Saturday.
The sale comes on the heels of Dr. Conrad Murray‘s sentencing to four years in prison for Jackson’s death. Earlier this month, Murray — convicted of involuntary manslaughter — filed an appeal in Los Angeles Superior Court because he said he “disagrees with the jury’s findings.”
