When Michael Kors — the King of Seventh Avenue in New York — comes to L.A. these days, he does it up right. Thursday night’s bash, hosted by Kors, saw roughly 150 high-level Hollywood guests celebrate burgeoning portrait photographer Claiborne Swanson Frank and her new tome, Young Hollywood (Assouline; $50), which features a forward by Kors himself.
Along with many of the stars featured in the book — Magic Mike‘s Cody Horn, for one — young female and male stars arrived in their Michael Kors‘ best: Kiernan Shipka loved her brocade Kors mini shift, while Zoe Kravitz, Emmy Rossum, Nina Dobrev, Hailee Steinfeld, Amber Valetta and Alison Brie posed in their varied Kors looks.

Many of Hollywood’s top stylists were on hand, too. Petra Flannery attended in a flocked long sleeved Kors print dress (“I love it, even though it’s too hot out to be wearing sleeves and texture,” she said), Karla Welch in a tweed and appliqued fit ‘n’ flare dress with a rectangular keyhole above the waist (“I just walked into the store and picked it out —yes, I’m showing a little skin, it’s hot out”) and Elizabeth Stewart in black and red floral.
Kors, affable as always, laughed at having done an interview with Swanson Frank the day before, where she gushed that she’s always loved his clothes, and that her mother and grandmothers wear them. “Claiborne, but I’m only 37,” the 55 year-old told her, straight-faced. “She got really embarrassed,” said Kors. “I look young because I wear these drugdealer shades,” laughed the billionaire designer of his constant gold-tinted aviators. “It must be the human growth hormones I’m on!”
Also sitting at long tables on the grounds of a Trousdale estate overlooking all of Hollywood (where Swanson Frank happened to do many of the book’s photo shoots) was Julianne Hough, Vanessa Getty in from San Francisco, Ireland Baldwin and Isabel Lucas and fashionistas such as Katharine and Jane Ross.
