Australia-based AMCPO Films is financing and producing the film adaptation of Irish author Michael Scott’s best-selling book The Alchemyst, the first title in The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel series.
Scott is writing the adapted script, with production set to begin in February in Australia and New Zealand.

The Alchemyst centers on legendary 14th century French alchemist Nicholas Flamel, who discovered the elixir of eternal life and is still alive today. The secret to immortality is hidden in a book that, in the wrong hands, could destroy the world. When Dr. John Dee steals the book, 15-year-old twins Sophie and Josh Newman are the only ones with the power to save mankind.
“I immediately responded to the producer’s vision in bringing the first book in the series to life,” Scott said.
AMPCO’s Mario Andreacchio (Captain Johnno, Paradise Found) will produce with Konstantin Thoeren (Peter the Great, Rainer Werner Fassbinder’s Lili Marlene).
Stefan Brunner, former COO of Imagenation Abu Dhabi, is packaging the project and will executive produce alongside Scott and Barry Krost. Lawless Entertainment CEO Cathy Malatesta brokered the deal for the film rights and will co-executive produce.
All six titles in the Nicholas Flamel series, published by Random House, have appeared on the New York Times Best Seller list and have been published in 37 countries.
Scott is repped by Barry Krost Management.
