Paramount is closing a deal for an FBI comedy pitch from Lauryn Kahn, who wrote Sony’s EDM romantic comedy I’m in Love With the DJ.
Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates director Jake Szymanski is attached to helm the film. The story centers on a pair of FBI agents (one male and one female) who pretend to be a married couple to go undercover with the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills in order to uncover a sweat shop. Gary Sanchez Productions’ Adam McKay, Will Ferrell and Kevin Messick will produce.
The deal marks the third high-profile auction for Kahn’s work after I’m in Love With the DJ, which is set up at Sony, and He’s F—ing Perfect (now called The Social Life), which went to Fox 2000 in 2013 with Szymanski attached to direct at one time. Previously an assistant to McKay, Kahn is repped by WME.
Szymanski’s comedy Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, starring Zac Efron, Adam Devine, Aubrey Plaza and Anna Kendrick, hit theaters earlier this month. The helmer also is attached to Chernin Entertainment’s comedy Women in Business starring Emma Stone, Kate McKinnon and Jillian Bell. Szymanski is repped by UTA and Mosaic.
