Miley Cyrus Shows Off “Protect Kids Not Guns” Shirt

Miley Cyrus made a political statement Monday with her T-shirt reading, “protect kids not guns.”

The singer showed her support for stricter gun control with the DIY-style piece with crayon-like writing. She paired it with a burgundy plaid suit, presumably faux-fur hat, gold chains and a red lip for a recording session in New York (her single “Nothing Breaks Like Aa Heart” was released Nov. 29).

She’s previously supported the cause at March for Our Lives, where Cyrus wore an MSD Strong sweatshirt to support survivors of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas school shooting. At the Washington, D.C., rally, she also held a “Never Again” sign.

Aside from gun control, Cyrus frequently speaks up for animal rights, LGBTQ rights and natural disaster relief. Her Happy Hippie Foundation aims to help homeless youth and LGBTQ youth. After the Woolsey Fire in Malibu that burned down the home she and Liam Hemsworth share, Cyrus announced the couple would donate $500,000 through her foundation to The Malibu Foundation for recovery efforts. 

Cyrus shared her “protect kids not guns” tee on Instagram, where she’s deleted all posts older than Nov. 30 while working on her seventh album.

Since the 2016 election, there’s been a spike in political apparel in Hollywood. America Ferrera and Logan Browning have sported Tory Burch’s “Vote” tee and designer Prabal Gurung debuted feminist and resist-themed clothing.
