Crackle, a multiplatform digital content hub, has greenlighted a second season of original series Chosen, which stars Heroes grad Milo Ventimiglia, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively.
Chosen centers on a married father and lawyer (Ventimiglia), who wakes up one morning to discover a mysterious box on his doorstep containing a loaded gun and a photo of a stranger he is instructed to kill within the next three days. The second season of the action-drama will begin production this summer.
“Chosen confirms our belief that there is a strong appetite for compelling, high-quality original series in the digital space,” said Eric Berger, executive vp digital networks for Sony Pictures Television. “Whether it was online, on mobile or through a connected TV device, our audience spent a significant amount of time with the show, following it through to its conclusion. We are excited to announce that we are moving forward with a second season.”
The first season, which consists of six half-hour installments, launched on Crackle platforms Jan. 17 and will be available through mid-May. Chosen logged 2.4 million streams in less than 10 weeks across multiple platforms, including online and mobile/tablet.
Ventimiglia executive produced season one with co-creators Ben Ketai (30 Days of Night: Dark Days) and Ryan Lewis (Fat Kids Rules the World, High School). Ketai wrote and directed the series.
