Actress, writer and producer Mindy Kaling is expecting her first child, E! News reports.
According to sources at E!, the pregnancy was “an unexpected surprise.” Reps for Kaling did not immediately return The Hollywood Reporter‘s request for comment.
The 38-year-old, who was in Anaheim over the weekend to attend the D23 Expo with her A Wrinkle In Time co-stars Oprah Winfrey and Reese Witherspoon, has expressed a desire for children in the past.

“I think I’ve decided that unlike everything else in my life, I’m going to be fast and loose about kids,” Kaling told Yahoo! Style in September 2015. “I’m going to not actively plan, but if it happens, it would happen.” The actress, who previously dated actor BJ Novak (2005-2007) and writer Benjamin Nugent (2008-2012), added, “I’m not cavalier about who I would have a kid with. But the thing I ask every parent that I really admire, the one comment they all have is that they wish they had kids earlier.”
