The Mindy Project writer-star Ike Barinholtz has landed the hotly contested male lead in Universal’s Tina Fey–Amy Poehler comedy The Nest.
Written by Paula Pell, the film revolves around two disconnected sisters summoned home to clean out their childhood bedroom before their parents sell the family house. They decide to throw one final rager in the house, which turns into a cathartic experience for a bunch of ground-down adults.

Barinholtz, who made a scene-stealing turn in the studio’s hit comedy Neighbors, will play a neighbor and love interest of Poehler’s character.
Jason Moore (Pitch Perfect) is directing the film, which will be released Dec. 18, 2015.
Fey is producing The Nest alongside Jay Roach and John Lyons. Poehler is executive producing with Jeff Richmond and Brian Bell. Erik Baiers and Chloe Yellin are overseeing for Universal.
Barinholtz also wrote the screenplay Central Intelligence, which is set up at New Line with Rawson Marshall Thurber attached to direct.
Barinholtz, whose credits also include MADtv and Eastbound & Down, is repped by UTA, Principato-Young and attorney Jared Levine.
