SYDNEY – Canadian film and TV distributor eOne announced Thursday that TV sales director Ben Bishop is relocating to Sydney to head up its Australasian television operations.
From Sydney, Bishop will oversee sales of eOne’s multi-genre TV slate, including shows like The Walking Dead, Hell on Wheels, Call Me Fitz, Mega Builders and Mr. D, in all media in Australia/New Zealand, Asia, Japan and India. He will continue to report to Prentiss Fraser, svp worldwide sales and acquisitions, eOne Television International.
“We’re very pleased to be able to offer our Austral-Asian broadcast partners an eOne content expert at their front steps. Ben has been with eOne for years so it was a great opportunity for both him and the company,” said Fraser.
Bishop will be based alongside eOne’s Australian based film distribution and production business, the Hopscotch Group. His new appointment furthers eOne’s strategy of building its global distribution network, getting access to premium television content from around the world, and providing broadcast partners with multi-platform expertise on the ground in their local markets.
Earlier this year, eOne Television International president Peter Emerson relocated to the company’s London office to oversee its European expansion. Hopscotch/eOne’s film team will continue to handle films in all media throughout Australia and New Zealand
At the same time eOne is looking for more TV production opportunities in key English-speaking markets, working with local producers and talent to develop an original slate in Australia and New Zealand and other territories.
Alongside eOne’s expansion in Australasia the company also announced its acquired worldwide rights to 12-part teen action-thriller series Conspiracy 365 from producers Circa Media. Commissioned by Movie Network Channels here, Conspiracy 365 is adapted from the best-selling book-series by award-winning Australian author Gabrielle Lord, and tells the story of a year in the life of teen fugitive Cal Ormond as he searches for the truth behind his deadly family secret.
