LONDON – TV production, sales and finance powerhouse FremantleMedia has elevated Donna Wiffen to be head of worldwide drama on the eve of this year’s international market Mipcom.
Wiffen will be charged with drama strategy and production around FremantleMedia’s global network, including the development, acquisition and rollout of all scripted formats as well as leading and facilitating best practice.
FremantleMedia said Claire Tavernier will continue as head of FremantleMedia’s central new media division FMX, as part of a strategic separation “to distinguish and heighten focus on the key areas of drama and digital.”
Both executives will be based in London and report to FremantleMedia’s CEO Cecile Frot-Coutaz.
Frot-Coutaz said Wiffen’s promotion comes at “a very exciting time for the genre [drama].”
He added: “Her expertise in drama and her knowledge of FremantleMedia make her the perfect person to build on our existing position and lead worldwide drama at FremantleMedia as we intensify our focus on the development and production of scripted content internationally.”
Tavernier will focus exclusively on FremantleMedia’s central upstart media division FMX.
Wiffen’s resume boasts stints at BBC Worldwid backed company Cliffhanger and Endemol prior to joining FremantleMedia.
