CANNES – Canadian TV producer Temple Street Productions is bringing the controversial London Times restaurant critic and broadcaster Giles Coren to North American TV.
BBC America and Canada’s W Network have given a series order for Million Dollar Critic, a one hour documentary series that has the caustic columnist traveling through North America to find new and fresh restaurant experiences.
And the winning eatery will earn a rave international review from Coren, which by reputation could be worth a $1 million in extra business.

The series is set to air on W and BBC America in 2014.
Million Dollar Critic was created by Temple Street, the producer of Orphan Black, a breakout hit on BBC America and Space in Canada.
“It’s great to partner with Temple Street again, and we’re thrilled to finally have a project with Giles Coren, combining his expertise as a journalist with his love of food and travel,” said Richard De Croce, svp programming at BBC America, on Tuesday.
Temple Street developed the cross-border series in association with Corus Entertainment’s W.

“Giles Coren is one of those rare talents that we know will have a very broad appeal, and we are excited to be working with Temple Street Productions to bring his uniquely entertaining culinary insight to Canadian viewers,” said Vibika Bianchi, vp original programming at Corus Entertainment, in her own statement.
Temple Street is best known for its The Next Step series on Family Channel, Being Erica on SOAPnet and Canada’s Next Top Model on CTV.
