CANNES – British crime drama Broadchurch continues its global rollout, with Shine International closing deals with multiple international broadcasters, including Shaw Media for Canada, Globosat for Brazil and Youku for China, to bring the total number of territories sold to 100.
Fox is adapting the British show, about a brutal murder in a sleepy seaside resort, for the U.S. market. Broadchurch star David Tennant will reprise his role as a police detective in the U.S. version, which Shine America is producing in association with Kudos and Imaginary Friends and is set to begin filming in January for broadcast in the 2014-15 season.

BBC America has picked up the original British version of the show.
Broadchurch debuted on commercial network ITV in the U.K. and was the most watched new drama of 2013, scoring more than 10 million viewers for the finale of the first eight-episode season. ITV has already commissioned a second season.
International sales were brokered by the Shine International team of Lisa Higginson, Priscilla Siney, Lisette Schlippe, Matt Vassallo, Matthew Ashcroft and Katrina Neylon.
