Sony Pictures Television has sold time-travel drama Timeless, which airs in the U.S. on NBC, to Channel 4 in the U.K., which will air the series on its E4 network.
Timeless debuted on NBC with 11.1 million viewers, becoming the top series premiere of the week for adults 18-44.
Sony is selling the show at MIPCOM in Cannes.The drama also has sold to AXN in Japan, Viacom 18’s Colors Infinity in India and Sohu in China. Timeless also has been picked up by OSN across the Middle East, Moviestar in Spain, AXN in Portugal and Fox in Italy.
“Timeless offers viewers a thrilling and boisterous ride through time to revisit some of the most pivotal moments in our collective history,” Keith LeGoy, SPT president, distribution, said Monday in a statement. “It’s brilliantly written and produced — a show with truly global appeal.”
Timeless was created by Eric Kripke (Revolution, Supernatural), Shawn Ryan (The Shield) and the producers of The Blacklist. It follows a group of unlikely heroes thrust into the adventure of their lives. Chasing a mysterious group of criminals through time and encountering some of the most seminal moments in history, the group attempts to thwart a dark conspiracy that is a threat to all of humanity.
Timeless stars Abigail Spencer (Rectify), Matt Lanter (90210), Malcolm Barrett (Hurt Locker), Goran Visnjic (ER), Sakina Jaffrey (The Mindy Project), Paterson Joseph (The Leftovers), Susanna Thompson (Arrow) and Claudia Doumit (Scandal).
