French network TF1 has joined Germany’s RTL on ambitious historic drama series Hitler, a 10-hour limited series following Adolf Hitler‘s rise to power.
UFA Film, the Berlin-based shingle behind International Emmy-winning miniseries Generation War, will produce Hitler together with Beta Film. Beta is handling international sales.
The series is based on Thomas Weber‘s biography Hitler’s First War, which traces the Nazi leader’s life from the end of World War I up to World War II and the Holocaust.
Hitler’s rise to power will be reflected through two of his WWI comrades: Fritz Wiedemann and the Jewish soldier Hugo Gutmann, as well as Karl Mayr, one of Hitler’s first patrons who later tuned against him.
Weber will act as a historical consultant on the series.
Production is set to begin in 2016.
