The lunch, held Monday, Oct. 5 at the Majestic Hotel in Cannes during MIP, will bring together some of the biggest power players in global TV to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing women in the media industry worldwide.
Participants include Sharon Tal Yguado, head of Fox International Studios and EVP of global scripted entertainment for Fox International Channels; Vivian Yin, CEO of FremantleMedia China; Lifetime SVP of communications and public affairs Danielle Carrig; Pelin Distas Yasaroglu, general manager of Kanal D, Turkey’s number one network; Oscar-winning documentary filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy (Saving Face); and Sarah Phelps, writer and executive producer of upcoming BBC crime miniseries And Then There Were None.
Carrig will introduce the panel with an opening presentation outlining Lifetime’s “Broad Focus Initiative,” which the U.S. network designed to encourage and cultivate female media talents and scout for future industry leaders.
Marisa Guthrie, The Hollywood Reporter‘s East Coast television editor, will moderate the Power Lunch panel, which, under the umbrella theme of “Think Next,” will explore how a new generation of female executives and creative talents are driving the future of the TV industry worldwide.
“This is Mipcom’s fourth Women in Global Entertainment Power Lunch, which has established itself as a valuable forum for influential women in the industry to exchange views,” said Laurine Garaude, director of the television division of Mipcom organizers Reed Midem. “This makes it a key networking event for those women shaping the future of TV and entertainment.”
Mipcom runs Oct. 5-8 in Cannes.
