LONDON – Miramax has pacted with British pay TV platform UKTV to unspool a selection of movie titles from its library to subscribers here for its basic pay and digital terrestrial television channels.
Titles will include The Aviator, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, the Scream and Spy Kids franchises and Finding Neverland among others.
The pact was announced by Miramax svp and head of sales, Europe Danny Goldman and UKTV acquisitions and co-productions chief Alexandra Finlay.
Goldman said the deal marks the first major multi-title linear deal struck by Miramax for the U.K. and Ireland.
UKTV is a joint venture between BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the BBC, and Scripps Networks International.

“UKTV has a proven record of delivering high-quality feature films to its subscribers and we are delighted that the Miramax library, which offers one of the world’s leading collections of high-end feature films, will become part of UKTV’s market-leading mix,” said Goldman.
Finlay said: “The Miramax library is renowned for its breadth and quality, and these films will be a fantastic addition to UKTV’s general entertainment offering.”
Separately, Miramax said it is expanding its global sales efforts naming Mathilde Rottier vp, worldwide television with Stuart Shaw joining as director, international sales and marketing.
Astrid De Berardinis and Alexandra Tullberg have also been appointed as directors of sales.
Rottier will be based at Miramax’s headquarters in Santa Monica and will cover select territories worldwide and select digital partners as well. Previously, Rottier was vp, MGM Worldwide TV Group.
Shaw is tasked with maximizing and coordinating international sales and marketing activities from Miramax’s London sales office.
Previously, Shaw worked for Paramount Home Entertainment as commercial director, APAC, and commercial manager, EMEA.
De Berardinis joins Miramax from CBS Studios in Rome, and will work in London alongside Tulberg who joins from Paramount Pictures in the British capital.
