LONDON – Brad Bird’s Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, starring Tom Cruise, will open this year’s Dubai International Film Festival.
The fourth installment in the action franchise also stars Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, Paula Patton, Michael Nyqvist, Vladimir Mashkov, Josh Holloway, Anil Kapoor and Léa Seydoux.
The 8th Dubai International Film Festival runs Dec. 7 through 14, 2011.
Cruise, Bird and the film’s co-stars are all scheduled to stroll up the red carpet at the event, organizers said.
The movie’s opening was jointly announced by Paramount Pictures and the festival.
The picture sees a return to Dubai for the filmmaking team and stars after some of it was shot there including shoots spanning its old town, downtown financial hub and offshore Palm island development.
The movie includes a scene with Cruise scaling the world’s tallest tower, Dubai’s Burj Khalifa building.
Under the patronage of UAE vice president and ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Dubai International Film Festival aims to be considered a global launching pad for Arab, Asian, African and other world cinema and as a facilitator of cultural exchange through film.
