Korean-American model Soo Joo Park announced via her Instagram (@soojmooj) on Thursday that she will be joining the ranks of Lara Stone, Jennifer Lopez and Karlie Kloss as a spokesmodel for L’Oreal Paris cosmetics. The 28-year-old will be making history as the first Asian-American spokesmodel for the 106-year-old French beauty brand.
The veteran model, whose impressive résumé includes runway shows for Chanel, Moschino and Tom Ford as well as covers of Vogue Korea and Wonderland, is known for her trademark platinum-blonde locks and punk-inspired off-duty style. Though she may have gotten a relatively late start in the modeling game — she was scouted in San Francisco at age 26 — Park has quickly become a go-to favorite in the fashion world, starring in shows alongside Gigi Hadid, Joan Smalls, Cara Delevingne and Kendall Jenner.
With regards to being the first Asian-American spokesmodel for L’Oreal Paris, Park told Style.com, “It’s such an honor, but I also think the world is getting smaller and the globalization of commerce is influencing industries like beauty and fashion. So to be the first to represent a global brand is a huge honor.”
The interview, which was published Thursday afternoon, also contains Park’s tips and tricks for maintaining her signature bleached ‘do — just a little too late for former-blonde-person Kim Kardashian to get in on the supermodel’s platinum-maintenance secrets. Oh well.
