Monica Bellucci and Jean-Paul Belmondo are set for special career honors at France’s Lumiere Awards.
The Italian-French actress is known in France for her work with big-name directors, such as her star-making turn in Gaspar Noe’s controversial Irreversible, as well as Philippe Garrel and Guillaume Nicloux. She’s also taken turns in more popular fare, such as playing Cleopatra in an Asterix and Obelix farcical comedy alongside Gerard Depardieu.
The academy will also pay tribute to her international career, where she has appeared in such films as Bram Stoker’s Dracula, The Matrix trilogy, James Bond installment Spectre and Amazon’s Mozart in the Jungle. Bellucci has twice been the mistress of ceremonies at the Cannes Film Festival.
Legendary actor Jean-Paul Belmondo will also be honored at the ceremony. The French New Wave star of classics, such as Jean-Luc Godard’s Breathless and Pierrot le Fou and Philippe de Broca’s That Man from Rio, received an honorary Palme d’Or in Cannes in 2011.
Marion Cotillard received the Lumiere career honor last year. The Lumiere Academy represents foreign press in France and awards prizes for the best French films of the year.
The ceremony will be held on Feb. 5 in Paris.
