Mexico’s fast-growing Los Cabos Film Festival is bringing in some big-name Hollywood talent for its fifth edition.
The event, which is set to run Nov. 9-13 in Cabo San Lucas, will honor three-time Oscar winner Oliver Stone as he presents his latest work, Snowden, the Edward Snowden biopic that had its world premiere in Toronto recently.
Also getting tributes are Academy Award-nominated Mexican cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto, who has worked with the likes of Alejandro G. Inarritu and Martin Scorsese, and Monica Bellucci, recipient of this year’s lifetime achievement award.
Los Cabos will open with the Latin American premiere of Jackie, starring Natalie Portman as Jacqueline Kennedy, and will close with the dramedy Captain Fantastic, from actor-turned-director Matt Ross (Silicon Valley).
The annual event in southern Baja brings together filmmakers and industry leaders from Mexico, the U.S. and Canada. This year, Los Cabos will host the Winston Baker Film Investor Summit in association with The Hollywood Reporter and featuring participants from Amazon Studios, Netflix, IM Global and CAA.
Among the films in the official selection are the Cannes jury prize winner American Honey and Mexican helmer Amat Esalante’s The Untamed, which won the Venice Silver Lion for best director.
