Monse is one of the buzziest new brands taking the red carpet by storm.
Just last month during their fall 2016 show, designers Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia spoke of dressing “every type woman” — and they’ve certainly delivered on that front. Everyone from risk-taking popstars like Lady Gaga and Selena Gomez to more conservative style icons like Amal Clooney and Jessica Biel have stepped out in stunning looks in the past few months. But it’s not just these Hollywood A-listers who have taken notice of Kim and Garcia’s talent.

Fashionista reports that the designer duo, both alums of Oscar de la Renta, have recently been hired as full-time employees of Carolina Herrera: Kim as the senior vice president of design and Garcia as a consultant. Monse declined to comment or confirm the appointments to Pret-a-Reporter.
The pair, who served as consultants on Herrera’s pre-fall 2016 collection, fill a fraction of the void left by the departure of longtime creative director Herve Pierre, who was terminated following the fall 2016 presentation on Feb. 15 at the behest of the company’s new CEO and president, Francois Kress.
Kim and Garcia will report to Herrera, who maintains ultimate creative control.
But what does this mean for their 6-month-old label Monse, which had a front row brimming with big celebs (Jaime King, Alison Brie) and industry folk (Fern Mallis, Steven Kolb) alike? The answer to that question remains to be seen, but given their successes both on the red carpet and with buyers (including Net-a-Porter and Bergdorf Goodman), it’s hard to imagine they’ll put Monse on the back burner. At least, we hope not.
