Kellyanne Conway has lost her credibility and her invitation to appear on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, according to the show’s co-host Mika Brzezinski.
During a segment highlighting the differing messaging between Trump’s senior counselor and White House spokesman Sean Spicer, Brzezinski said she refuses to book Conway on their show because she doesn’t believe in “fake news” and information that isn’t true.
“We know for a fact she tries to book herself on this show,” she said Wednesday morning. “I won’t do it because I don’t believe in fake news or information that isn’t true. Every time I’ve ever seen her on television something’s askew, off or incorrect.”
Host Joe Scarborough backed Brzezinski’s opinion on Conway’s credibility based on his own sources from inside the White House.
“She’s out of the loop,” he said. “She’s in none of the key meetings. She goes out and books herself often.”
Scarborough then said he doesn’t believe Conway is saying things she knows to be untrue, but is rampantly booking herself on talk shows to stay relevant.
“I think it is equally as bad that a spokesperson in the White House actually goes out and makes things up,” he said of accusations of her “lying.” He added, “She’s not briefed. So she’ll go out like she did yesterday — she’ll hear me say something about her, apparently this is what I’ve heard from inside the White House — and then she’ll immediately start calling and she’ll call people to go on TV and defend herself.”
Scarborough cited her Tuesday appearance on the Today show — when Matt Lauer said Conway’s White House story behind Michael Flynn’s resignation didn’t make any sense — as an example of her giving out misinformation.
“She’s just saying things to get in front of the TV set to prove her relevance because behind the scenes she’s not in these meetings,” he said. “And any reporter can ask anybody in that White House and they will say the same thing.”
Brzezinski agreed she’s “not credible anymore” and reiterated her stance on Conway’s invitation.
“I will say, Kellyanne Conway does not need to text our show,” she concluded. “At least as long as I’m on it. Because it’s not happening here.”
MSNBC declined further comment.
