British rock legend Ozzy Osbourne will be honored with the Global Icon Award at the MTV EMAs in Glasgow, Scotland, in November.
The MTV EMAs will air live on MTV channels around the world from the SSE Hydro in Glasgow on Sunday, Nov. 9. Osbourne revealed the news to fans via his Facebook page.
“Ozzy’s impact on music and pop culture has been tremendous,” said Bruce Gillmer, executive vp talent and music programming/events, at Viacom International Media Networks. “For over four decades, he’s entertained, influenced, inspired and sometimes shocked legions of diehard fans around the globe.”

Osbourne is a multiplatinum artist, a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee and a three-time Grammy winner. He has sold more than 120 million albums worldwide. He has just released the CD/DVD collection Memoirs of a Madman. He also has a history with MTV thanks to reality series The Osbournes (2002-2005).
The former honorees are Eminem, who got the MTV Global Icon Award last year, Whitney Houston (2012), Queen (2011) and Bon Jovi (2010).
Nicki Minaj is set to host the MTV EMAs. Performers announced so far include Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran and Minaj.
