MTV said on Wednesday that it would roll out hourlong music documentary series The Ride across its international networks, putting the spotlight on key moments in the careers of the likes of Snoop Dogg and Demi Lovato.
After a first hourlong doc on Macklemore & Ryan Lewis aired in the U.K. in June, MTV Music will continue the series in Britain in October. Other international markets will start airing The Ride from Sept. 26, said Viacom International Media Networks, the international channel arm of MTV parent Viacom.
It also mentioned Linkin Park, Enrique Iglesias, Jennifer Hudson and T.I. as upcoming subjects for the documentary strand. Further artists are expected to be announced later.
MTV said the series, produced by Storyville Entertainment, gives fans “intimate access to some of the biggest names in music” and documents “the key moments in their careers, culminating in what they regard as their most transformative, breakthrough moment.”
The network has ordered 10 episodes of the show that it says is a chance for it of “harnessing MTV’s unparalleled access to the world’s biggest musical stars.” The series also continues its history of music documentaries.
There aren’t any immediate plans to air the show on MTV in the U.S., a spokeswoman said.
Executive producers on the show are Betsy Schechter and Caroline Christopher for Storyville and Bruce Gillmer and Elyse Zaccaro for MTV International.
