BEVERLY HILLS — MTV has picked up Randy Jackson’s America’s Best Dance Crew for a seventh season and Fantasy Factory for a fifth season. MTV’s executive vp David Janollari made the announcements Friday at the network’s portion of the Television Critic’s Association press tour.
The network is also going into production on Dumb Girls, a new scripted project about 20-something women who are dumb about love from creator Lauren Iungerich.
Janollari surprised Iungerich with the news on stage during the question and answer session for Awkward, Iungerich’s current MTV show. The news elicited hugs from cast members. Awkward premiered last week to 1.7 million viewers and positive reviews from critics.
Additionally, Mila Kunis will guest star as herself on the network’s animated series Good Vibes in an episode that limns Kunis’ recent brush with a date to the Marine Corps Ball. Kunis accepted a YouTube invitation from Sgt. Scott Moore — apparently after her Friends With Benefits costar Justin Timberlake talked her into it. She has since said her schedule will not allow her to attend.
In the Good Vibes episode Kunis agrees to go to the prom with Wadska (Tony Hale) after he saves her from rabid paparazzi on the beach.
