Stars walked a two-tiered red carpet as they made their way into L.A.’s Staples Center to attend the MTV Video Music Awards Thursday evening.
Ahead of the show, the big event was to be Demi Lovato’s performance, but news of a baby may take the cake.
Amber Rose and Wiz Khalifa officially announced they are expecting a child. While Khalifa was effusive about the prospects of fatherhood, Rose took a more practical approach: “My feet hurt. I’m going to go sit down,” she said.

Earlier in the pre-show, new The X Factor host Lovato took home the first moon man in the category of Best Video With a Message for “Skyscraper.”
“I can’t even tell you what it means to me. It’s so amazing that I’m actually touching one of these,” Lovato said of her statue. “I always watched the VMAs growing up and now I’m holding one. This is crazy.”
After her performance of “Give Your Heart a Break,” she gave out two tickets to the show to a lucky man in a hoody.
The boys of One Direction also made an appearance on the carpet, and were trotted out to the crowd to take photos. Screaming fans and crying girls took over the broadcast momentarily.
Not to be outdone, the cast of MTV’s The Jersey Shore also made an appearance, with the notable absence of new mother Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi.
But not to fear: She appeared in a video message to her castmates, saying she was cultivating her new identify as a MILF, and promising to come to next year’s event, where she predicted her son would win a Best New Artist award.
Taylor Swift closed out the pre-show, pumping up her upcoming performance.
“This is so exciting to role out this album and have the first performance for this album be on the VMAs. Its something that I’ve always wanted to do,” Swift said.
The VMAs are being hosted by Kevin Hart.
