TORONTO — Multiple Media Entertainment has secured the exclusive Canadian distribution rights to the Syfy mini-series Neverland and Treasure Island.
The four-hour Neverland project, produced by Dublin-based Parallel Films on behalf of MNG Films in association with Syfy and Sky Movies HD, stars Charles Dance and Rhys Ifans and is written and directed by Nick Willing.
RHI Entertainment is distributing the prequel to the Peter Pan story.
Neverland also stars Anna Friel, Bob Hoskins, Raoul Trujillo and Charlie Rowe.
Toronto-based Multiple Media Entertainment will also sell Canadian broadcasters on Treasure Island, another four hour project shot in Ireland and Puerto Rico, this time with Elijah Wood, Donald Sutherland and Eddie Izzard starring.
The two-part adaptation of the Robert Louis Stevenson classic is executive produceed by Robert Halmi Sr. for RHI Entertainment, Alan Moloney for Parallel Films, Mark Grenside for MNG Films, Melanie Stokes and Anne Brogan for Kindle Entertainment and Annie Harrison-Baxter for Sky.
Treasure Island, directed by Steve Barron, is produced Laurie Borg, and based on a script by Stewart Harcourt.
Cash-strapped Canadian broadcasters have been key buyers of TV mini-series of late, including Titanic, The Borgias, Camelot and The Kennedys.
