AP ImagesNaomi Campbell is trying to take matters into her own hands when it comes to educating the public about Ebola. The supermodel is planning charity fashion shows that will help raise funds to fight the deadly disease, reports Page Six.
The announcement of Campbell’s philanthropic mission comes a day after it was reported that the first Ebola patient diagnosed in the U.S. had died on Wednesday. “I’m scared,” the runway model told the gossip news site, adding that she wants to help victims and inform her peers about the disease because “people don’t have a clear idea about what Ebola is.”
Campbell — who walked at Diane von Furstenberg’s show and attended the Versus Versace presentation during September’s New York Fashion Week — plans to present the benefit fashion shows during February’s NYFW, and again in London.
This isn’t the first time the British supermodel has taken steps to fundraise for a cause. In 2011, Campbell created the Fashion for Relief shows to benefit relief efforts in Haiti and Japan. Jane Fonda, Kate Moss and Rosario Dawson were among the bold-facers to show their support.
