Ana de la Reguera, recently seen on Narcos and Jane the Virgin, is joining YA feature adaptation Everything Everything.
The MGM and Alloy Entertainment film is set to star Amandla Stenberg and Nick Robinson and will be helmed by Stella Meghie, who made her feature directorial debut with Jean of the Joneses.
Nicola Yoon’s book centers on Maddy, an 18-year-old girl (Stenberg) who has lived nearly her entire life inside her home because she has a rare disease known as severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID) that makes her allergic to practically everything. But when a boy named Olly (Robinson) moves in next door, Maddy begins to fall in love.
De la Reguera will play Carla, Maddy’s nurse and confidante, who oversees her daily health and well-being but also understands her teenage spirit and knows how to make her confined home feel like a bigger world.
Les Morgenstein and Elysa Dutton of Alloy are producing. J. Mills Goodloe, who wrote the script for the Blake Lively starrer Age of Adaline and Fox 2000’s upcoming Idris Elba drama The Mountains Between Us, wrote the script.
The book, which hit shelves a year ago via Random House’s Delacorte, debuted at No. 1 on the New York Times YA best-seller list. It was sold in 34 territories and 32 languages and was on the New York Times best-seller list for seven months total.
De la Reguera has previously appeared in Nacho Libre and Cowboys & Aliens and on season two of HBO series Eastbound & Down. The actress played Elisa Alvaro on the Netflix hit series Narcos and Paola on The CW’s Jane The Virgin. She will next be seen on the new season of From Dusk Till Dawn and David Lynch’s upcoming Showtime series Twin Peaks. De la Reguera is repped by Paradigm, MGMT Entertainment and Gang, Tyre.
