Natalie Portman has canceled her upcoming appearances at the Independent Spirit Awards and the Oscars due to her pregnancy. Portman was nominated for both award for her starring role in Jackie.
“Due to my pregnancy, I am unable to attend the Independent Spirit Awards and the Academy Awards,” said Portman in a statement. “I feel so lucky to be honored among my fellow nominees and wish them the most beautiful of weekends.”
Portman is up for best actress at tomorrow night’s Oscars and best female lead at the Independent Spirit Awards, which take place today in Santa Monica. She has been showing her baby bump on red carpets including the Venice Film Festival and the Golden Globe Awards.
This will be the second child for Portman and her husband, French choreographer Benjamin Millepied, who have a 5-year-old son, Aleph. Portman told Matt Lauer on Today back in November that she was expecting to give birth in the spring.
