Hamilton Fish V, the president and publisher of The New Republic, is taking a leave of absence from the magazine pending an investigation of inappropriate conduct with female staffers.
The New York Times reports that The New Republic‘s owner Win McCormack sent a letter to staff Sunday outlining how he had asked Fish to “remain on a leave of absence” while they investigated complaints from female employees. McCormack’s letter added that he appreciated “the candor our employees have displayed in coming forward with their concerns, and I take the concerns very seriously.”
Fish, who is also editor and publisher of The Washington Spectator, is the latest high-profile man in the entertainment and media business who has been accused of sexual harassment in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal.
Kevin Spacey, E! News correspondent Ken Baker, director James Toback, former Amazon Studios chief Roy Price, journalist Mark Halperin, Vox Media’s Lockhart Steele, Top Chef’s John Besh, The Loud House creator Chris Savino have all been subject to multiple sexual harassment allegations.
