Love Adorned, the NYC jewelry mecca that has drawn a star-spangled following including Leonardo DiCaprio, Christy Turlington, Paul McCartney and Thom Yorke has opened a second location on Santa Monica’s bustling Main Street.

Owner Lori Leven first made a name for herself with her cult tattoo spot New York Adorned and its adjacent jewelry store on Second Avenue that debuted in 1996. Due to the overwhelming response to the jewelry offerings (lines regularly snaked down the street), Leven opened a separate lifestyle boutique on Nolita’s Elizabeth Street in 2010 to house both jewelry and an expanded selection of curated offerings. “I loved the jewelry shop, but I wanted to be able to do home, I wanted to be able to do accessories. I travel a lot also. I wanted to be able to sell my travel finds, so we just needed a bigger space,” says Leven. A location in Amagansett followed in 2012.
Now, at the urging of her California clientele who regularly frequent her East Coast stores, Leven has opened the doors to her first West Coast spot in a light-soaked space close to the beach, complete with a cactus garden. After debating between locations in Silver Lake and on Venice’s tony Abbot Kinney, Leven landed on the spot in Santa Monica that was formerly home to ready-to-wear line CP Shades.

“If I am going to spend eight hours a day in a space, I want it to have a backyard, I want it to have skylights. I want it to feel pretty and make me feel happy,” says Leven, who achieved that — and a whole lot more. In addition to stocking the same artful collection of handcrafted goods available in the East Coast locations, the Santa Monica store also carries a variety of new designers as eclectic as the myriad tattoos which climb up Leven’s arms. These include a number of Cali-based brands, including one-of-a-kind fine-jewelry pieces by Lou Zeldis and L.A.’s own Nick Potash and Elizabeth Street Jewelry, as well as skin care by In Fiore, ceramics by Trent Burkett and intoxicating fragrances by Persephenie.
“One of the things we do in New York is to try and find the people who are working around us,” says Leven, who has been a champion of local artisans since her brand was founded. “We are a New York brand, so we are still working with our favorites, but I love going on studio visits, so I’m looking forward to getting into the artists’ minds out here.”
