The 81 year-old veteran of film and television took the award for his contribution to the screen arts during a tribute in Dublin, Ireland.
Irish broadcaster and IFTA lifetime member Gay Byrne hosted an “In Conversation With…” in front of an invited audience of Irish Film & Television Academy members and a host of familiar faces from the world of Irish film and television as well as Tóibín’s family, friends and former colleagues.
