AFP/Getty ImagesDaredevil Nik Wallenda just completed his tightrope walk across the Grand Canyon on Sunday, but he’s already set his sights on another stunt.
Wallenda has said that he’d next like to walk on a tightrope between the Chrysler Building and the Empire State Building in New York City, a distance of 4,000 feet, three times the length of his most recent, quarter-mile daredevil stunt.
But New York City police commissioner Ray Kelly has said he won’t grant Wallenda the necessary permissions to take to the Manhattan sky.

“It’s dangerous to cross the Grand Canyon, and obviously, there’s water at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. Here, we have thousands of New Yorkers,” Kelly told New York’s CBS affiliate.
But Wallenda is still moving forward with his plan.
“I would never do anything to put people in danger and wouldn’t do a walk without proper permission and permits, but it’s a dream of mine I hope to make happen,” he said in a statement to NBC’s Today.com on Tuesday.

Wallenda wants to meet with New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg to discuss his concept for a walk, according to NBC News.
Wallenda’s Grand Canyon stunt drew nearly 13 million viewers to Discovery Channel’s live coverage and the channel is set to air a follow-up special this Sunday.
