Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson — happily married for 26 years with reputations for being among the nicest actors in the industry — may be the gold standard of Tinseltown coupledom. But not everyone wants to party with them. Following Wilson’s recent Cafe Carlyle residency at New York’s posh Carlyle Hotel in support of her burgeoning singing career, Wilson told THR about a late-night encounter with a noise-sensitive neighbor.

“There was a lady in the room next door and she did not like that there were too many people in my suite having a good time, so she came and knocked on the door and Tom answered it,” recalls the chanteuse. “And he said, ‘Excuse me, ma’am, we are very, very sorry for the noise, but would you like to come in?’ And she said, ‘No!’ and walked away.” Ouch.
