The New York Times has made a historic move in reserving their prime front page (Page One) on Saturday for an editorial calling for gun reform. In the Times‘ first front-page editorial since 1920, the paper makes a polarizing statement on firearms in the opinion article titled “End the Gun Epidemic.”
“?It is a moral outrage and national disgrace that civilians can legally purchase weapons designed to kill people with brutal speed and efficiency,” writes the Times‘ editorial board.

The article states that countries including France and England are “trying” with their strict gun laws, but “The United States is not. Worse, politicians abet would-be killers by creating gun markets for them, and voters allow those politicians to keep their jobs.”
