Tony Award-nominated actor Omar Metwally is set to play one of the leads in Andrew Wagner’s indie drama Breakable You opposite Holly Hunter, Tony Shalhoub and Cristin Milioti. He will play Sam, a man who encounters love while in the midst of a terrible loss.
The film is currently shooting in New York City and is being produced by Kevin Comer.
Metwally is known for his work onstage and screen and was last seen as Yussef in USA’s miniseries Dig. He recently appeared on NBC’s The Slap and earlier this year completed work on the Untitled Josh Marston Project opposite Rachel Weisz and Michael Shannon.
Metwally is also returning to the small screen with a recurring role on Showtime’s award-winning drama The Affair alongside Golden Globe-winners Dominic West and Ruth Wilson.
In July he completed the run of Rajiv Joseph’s new play, Guards at the Taj, directed by Amy Morton, for the Atlantic Theater Company. His performance was hailed as “exemplary” by The Hollywood Reporter and has worked on stages in New York and across the United States, including at the Steppenwolf Theater Company in Chicago, The Public Theater in New York, The Williamstown Theatre Festival and the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. He starred on Broadway in Sixteen Wounded, and in 2004 received his Tony Award nomination for Best Actor in a Featured Role for his performance.
Metwally is represented by Innovative Artists and MGMT Entertainment.
