Frazer Harrison/Getty Images for HFPAAs the remake of 1984’s Footloose, about a town that has banned rock and dancing, hits theatres Friday, the original star remembers how frustrated he was that he didn’t perform all the dance moves that helped make the film a success. Kevin Bacon says that he did the majority of the dancing in the film, except for the lively warehouse scene.

“I was furious,” Bacon, 53, tells People. “It’s like a starting pitcher getting taken out of a game – no one wants to be told they can’t get the guy out.”
“I had a stunt double, a dance double and two gymnastics doubles,” he goes on to say. “There were five of us in the f—ing outfit, and I felt horrible.”
Bacon does look back on much of the experience fondly it seems, especially after the studio dug up his original audition tape.

“Honestly, I was [impressed],” Bacon, who was in his late-20s at the time, says. “The energy, the hunger, the determination … it was cockiness really. I oozed it.”
Arguably, Footloose made Bacon a star and went on to make more than $80 million dollars when it opened in February of 1984.
The new film stars Kenny Wormald, Julianne Hough, Dennis Quaid, and Andie MacDowell.
