Leonardo DiCaprio was a winner at both the Oscars and on social media Sunday night.
The Revenant star, winner of best actor in a leading role, dominated Twitter and Facebook.
According to the latter, the most-talked-about moment on Facebook related to the Oscars show was his finally winning a golden statuette. In addition, DiCaprio’s post on Facebook thanking the Academy and calling attention to climate change (echoing remarks made in his acceptance speech) has garnered more than 1.6 million likes so far.
As previously reported, the moment that DiCaprio won was the most tweeted moment of an Oscar telecast ever, leading to 440,000 tweets per minute.
Rounding out Facebook’s top five most-talked-about moments were when Spotlight was named best picture, when Lady Gaga performed Oscar-nominated song ‘Til It Happens to You,’ when Alejandro G. Inarritu was named best director for The Revenant and when Mark Rylance was named best supporting actor for Bridge of Spies, upsetting frontrunner Sylvester Stallone.
According to Facebook, 24 million people around the world had 67 million interactions — posts, likes and comments — related to the Oscars.
Gaga, meanwhile, was responsible for two of the five most-liked Instagram photos of the night. The singer’s photo of her kissing fiancé Taylor Kinney has garnered 478,000 likes so far, making it No. 1 for the night, according to Instagram data first posted by Today.
Another photo she posted of herself on the red carpet came in at No. 4 of the most-liked Instagram photos, with 377,000 likes.
Also landing in the top five were a photo posted by Kevin Hart (below), who posed backstage with Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle (No. 2 with 416 likes); another Hart photo, of him and fiancée Eniko Parrish before the ceremony (No. 3 with 380,000 likes); and an expectant Chrissy Teigen’s red-carpet photo of herself with husband John Legend on the red carpet (No. 5 with 321 likes).
Me & Dave Chappelle with our brother @chrisrock tonight at the Oscars. True professionals understand the importance of sticking together & supporting one another….at the end of the day we are comedians & there aren’t many that make it to level that we have made it. But so many doors are opened from the success of one comedian & when you see those doors open you then have the opportunity to walk thru them….it’s about helping one another not trying to tear each other down!!!! The insecure ones will never understand what “Support & encouragement” #Message #DopePic #Legendary
