The French premiere and press events for Natalie Portman’s Jane Got a Gun were canceled Saturday in the wake of the city-wide terror attacks in Paris, organizers announced Saturday in an email to journalists.
The press junket had been scheduled for Sunday, and the premiere for Monday. Portman also called off French television appearances surrounding the film’s opening.
Leading French distributor Mars Films, in which Vivendi acquired a 30 percent stake in September, is handling the film in France. Publicity for Mars notified journalists that the press events and premiere were canceled.
The premiere had been scheduled to take place at the UGC Normandie theater on the famed Champs Elysees.
The French opening is the first scheduled release date following several date shifts for the film. In the U.S., the film was acquired by The Weinstein Company following the bankruptcy of Relativity Media in July. Jane Got a Gun is scheduled to be released in the U.S. in February.
