Brad Pitt’s Plan B has picked up the rights to M.T. Anderson’s young adult novel Landscape With Invisible Hand.
The story takes place on Earth after an alien species, the “Vuvv,” has taken over with labor-saving technology that causes the planet’s job market to collapse. A teen and his girlfriend make money by broadcasting their dating life to the fascinated aliens. Unfortunately, things go badly when, in the course of time, the two teens come to hate each other but can’t break up without bankrupting their families.
Plan B will produce the film as part of the three-year production deal with Annapurna. The production company and the upstart studio are currently partnering on Adam McKay’s Dick Cheney biopic starring Christian Bale.
The deal was negotiated by Anonymous Content on behalf of publisher McCormick Literary.
