The landing gear collapsed on an aircraft carrying several people associated with the new documentary Salinger as it landed at the Telluride Regional Airport Sunday afternoon, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
One observer at the site described it as a “belly-landing” and confirmed that the airport was shut down while the aircraft remained on a landing strip.
The Weinstein Co.’s publicity executive Emmy Chang was also on board the flight as was David Shields, the co-author of Salinger. Co-author and director Shane Salerno was not on board the flight.
According to a statement from San Miguel County Sheriff’s Office, the plane reported that “a warning light indicated a landing gear was not locked down” before it landed on runway 27 and its left gear collapsed. The plane “skidded to a halt” but there was no smoke or fire.
The runway was closed and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the crash landing, the sheriff’s office said.
“I’m fine,” one passenger tells THR. “A little shaken up but OK.”
