Police rushed to 7th Heaven star Stephen Collins‘ rental home in Tarzana late Tuesday after responding to reports of a loud bang, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed. It was feared he had attempted to commit suicide.
One of Collins’ neighbors, former Baywatch star Donna D’Errico, tweeted he had shot himself and posted a photo of police swarming the area. But it proved to be a false alarm. Police determined Collins was not at home during the incident and that there was no evidence of a gunshot, an LAPD spokesperson told THR.

This comes less than a day after audio emerged online in which Collins allegedly admits to molesting underage girls. The audio was secretly recorded by Collins’ estranged wife during a therapy session in 2012.

D’Errico later tweeted an apology for reporting that Collins had shot himself, saying she was only repeating what her neighbors had told her.

I just tweeted out what I was being told by my neighbor who were on scene. I apologize for tweeting what I’d heard before confirming it.
