A Facebook group dedicated to the pretzel-like hat Princess Beatrice wore to the Royal Wedding has attracted more than 79,000 followers since its inception Friday.
Called “Princess Beatrice’s ridiculous Royal Wedding hat,” the page features comments overwhelmingly critical of the headpiece chosen by the groom’s first cousin.

One commenter wrote, “Pretty sure that thing’s a Stargate” while another asked, ” Do they live in a house without mirrors?”
Besides the Facebook attacks, Princess Beatrice, the daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, is being roundly assailed in the press for the Philip Treacy hat that she paired with a Valentino Haute Couture dress and coat.

The Times Live has pitted the Princess against her sister Eugenie for the title of worst dressed Royal Wedding guest. E! Online writes, “We may never again see hats as ludicrous as the ones worn by Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie to their cousin Prince William’s wedding.” Fashion designer Gavin Rajah told the Independent Online that the sisters “looked like they belonged in the Mad Hatter’s tea party.”
Princess Beatrice’s hat designer created 36 hats for the royal wedding, including ones for Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, Princess Eugenie, Princess Michael of Kent, Queen Anna-Marie of Greece, Victoria Beckham and Princess Mathilde of Belgium.
