TORONTO – The programming exec shake-up at Canadian broadcaster City continues with news that Malcolm Dunlop, executive vp TV programming and operations at parent Rogers Media, is headed for the door.
His last day at the Canadian network is Aug. 30, with no word on where the veteran TV exec will next land.
The departure of Dunlop, who oversees programming and operations for Rogers Media’s conventional and cable TV assets, follows the pending exit of Claire Freeland, director of programming at Rogers Media Television and head of Canadian series development.
Sources at Rogers Media indicate the twin departures are unrelated.
An executive search for Freeland’s replacement has already begun, and details on executive succession plans at Rogers Media are expected in the coming weeks.
Dunlop has been with Rogers Media for 28 years, having joined in 1985 with OMNI Television. He was promoted in 2007 to overseeing TV programming duties.
That included building the City primetime schedule largely around popular U.S. series like Modern Family, How I Met Your Mother, New Girl, 2 Broke Girls and Revenge.
Rogers’ TV properties include five City local TV stations and another five OMNI-branded multicultural TV stations.
